Live-Food List Purpose, General Rules and
Guidelines
This document will be
distributed every two weeks to all
members. It ALSO contains UNSUBSCRIBE information.
If you join
the group, you indicate that you will follow the guidelnes and rules.
Description
and Purpose
This list is a community list
for those interested in
sharing and getting support regarding the Raw Foods diets which include
animal products as well as vegetable products (aka RAF or RVAF diets),
and particularly the RAF/RVAF diet recommended Aajonus Vonderplanitz in
his book, "We Want to Live." This is not a list for general
discussion
about raw foods, but is specifically designed to be a community for
people
using or experimenting with various RAF/RVAF diets. This list
encourages
discussion of fine-tuning of such diets, including successes, failures
and problems, and also allows discussion of even radical modifications
or evolutions of RAF/RVAF diets, or experience-based debates on the
pros
and cons of particular elements of RAF/RVAF diets.
We assume that you are eating
or experimenting with an
RAF/RVAF diet if you are on this list.
This list does not
exist to proselytize the RAF/RVAF diet,
nor to attack any other diet. This list does not exist to
convert
anyone to an RAF/RVAF diet or from any other diet. Thus, any statements
about diets must be based in experience or fact, and not in general
condemnation.
This is NOT a list for
attacking the general premises
of RAF/RVAF diets (e.g., barbed debunkery), or for telling us that
eating
RAF/RVAF diets is bad (again, debunkery) for us (outside of your own
experience),
or that we will die of kidney disease, syphilis, heart disease, e. coli
infections or parasitic infections. There already exist a number of raw
vegan and vegetarian lists which offer a forum for such negative
diatribes!
We have all heard such negatives many times before. We do not
need
to hear them again!
Let's just say that
live-foods list is a big nasty nest
of "true believers" and near-true believers (having definitely a bit of
rational skepticism, but mostly driven by our wild spirits) and let the
skeptics LEAVE in disgust. The tone should be one of
legitimate and
civil and reasonable disagreements and respectful discuassions.
If you are a
“newbie” to the diet, and feel you might
prefer a list devoted solely to supporting the Aajonus Vonderplanitz
style
of RAF/RVAF diet, then you might better join the
“PrimalDiet” list
at Yahoo Groups, which is a more narrowly-focused and protected
list.
Particularly, if you need to be protected from the controversy and
tensions
surrounding pros and cons debates of aspects of RAF/RVAF diets, then I
strongly recommend that you join the “PrimalDiet”
list at Yahoo groups.

In other words, this
list (the “LIVE-FOODS list”) is a
broader forum for discussion of RAF/RVAF diets than is the
“primaldiet”
list.
In any case, I strongly
recommend joining the PrimalDiet
list as well as this list because you will in effect be exposed to a
much
broader range of thoughts, questions and opinions by belonging to both
lists.
It is important that
you be familiar with RAF/RVAF diets
and dietary recommendations before you contribute to the
list. Aajonus’
book, "We Want to Live," is available for purchase at

If you are not really
interested in RAF/RVAF diets, we
strongly recommend that you do not join either list! If you
are not
interested in RAF/RVAF diets, please unsubscribe by following the

Expanding on those:
No Attachments:
Attachments create a problem in many ways, They will be
stripped
by Yahoo Groups if sent.
No Flames:
Disagreement is fine. Reasoned argument is fine. Personal attacks or
comments that
come across as mere antagonism to try to degrade the environment are
not. HOSTILITY is not allowed. Civility is
encouraged.
No Flamewars (inflammatory targeting of individuals often intended
to escalate). Anyone who sends a message to the list that
appears
to me or moderators to be mostly for the purpose of causing trouble
will
be removed from the list immediately and permanently.
Ads, Chain Letters, Spamming:
Absolutely NO commercial advertisements of any kind, without express
written permission of the list owners. The posting of bulk
advertising
and bulk junk mail to the list as a whole and to its members is not
allowed.
Postings including information where the primary purpose is financial
gain
or commercial promotion the author are also not allowed, unless there
is
express written permission of the list owners.
HOWEVER, brief mentions from individuals on this list, to this list,
for related products are ok.
Chain letters of any type, regardless of their
nature, and "spamming"
to the group and its members, are strictly prohibited.
About Postings, Private e-mail:
Reposting private e-mail is a violation of privacy. Please
check
your message headers carefully before pressing REPLY or SEND. We
understand
brainfog, and if you do inadvertently repost someone's private mail,
the
best first response is abject public and private apology.
Short messages such as "me too" or "thank you,
so-and-so" should most
likely be sent via private e-mail rather than to the list as
well.
Please consider and use your own judgement!
Reposting or rediscussing list mail to another
source (or to another
person not subscribed to live-food -- excluding immediate family
members,
spouses, fiancés, and S.O.'s) is not permitted unless
permission
is granted from all authors involved. This is a private list, and the
e-mails
contained therein are to remain private.
Use of Material Herein:
Assembling group messages into a database and archiving messages is
strictly prohibited for ALL reasons except for personal, private use.
This list is designed for individuals only, as a
private support group.
No groups or organizations may subscribe. Individuals from groups or
organizations
may subscribe for their PERSONAL use -- from their PERSONAL e-mail
account
-- but these individuals must request and receive permission from the
authors
and list owner on live-food before passing on, reproducing or
re-posting
*any* list mail.
Reposting of material to commercial sites is
expressly prohibited.
Member Identity Disclosure &
Accountability:
Members of this list are expected to be who they say they
are.
Deliberately misrepresenting your age, sex, professional or educational
experience, marital status, reason for subscribing to live-food, or
your
dietary status, etc., is not allowed.
If you wish to post mesages other than quick "How
to" or "How do I.
. . ." or "What Should I. . ." questions, you MUST declare your full
name
and identify yourself, including, if asked, age, gender, and the basics
of identity. This allows folks at least a reasonable chance
of authenticating,
verifying, evaluating, or researching your statements.
Postings from
ANONYMOUS authors/members, other than the short questions described
above,
are NOT ALLOWED. If you feel you need to remain anonymous,
then either
read messages only, or read and perhaps post only a few short questions
as defined above. We want our postings and members to be
sincere,
reliable, responsible and accountable. In the commercial and
academic
worlds, disclosure of identity is seen, for good reason, as crucial to
"audit tracking" and accountability.
On Research, Marketing, Propagandizing, etc.:
This list is a SAFE SPACE for live-food subscribers to share
information,
conversation, and support. It is not intended to be a place
to conduct
research, sell products, "preach" religious or political propaganda,
spy
on other list members, harass other list members, etc. Use of this list
for the purposes mentioned above is not allowed. Surveys and
Questionnaires
are not to to be posted to the group without express written permission
of the list owner. Replies to these will not be sent to the list as a
whole,
but to the one posting the survey/questionnaire. If a list member or
someone
they know is conducting a research project, and they need help from the
members of live-food, prior approval must be given by the list owner.
No Wildly Off-Topic
Discussions:
The purpose of this list is to
serve for discussions
about RAF/RVAF
diets. Some leeway is afforded.
However, if some
subject starts to drown out
the RAF/RVAF topic, it is
time for
that subject to have its own
listserve. This is
not meant to rule out humor.
Humor and Tolerance:
Humor is encouraged,
strongly. Humor which uses
a person or group as a target is prohibited. Tolerance is strongly
encouraged,
also compassion.
Be reasonable and
civil:
Again, respect, kindness and
compassion go a long way!
No attacks on persons
(ad hominem attacks):
Attacks upon persons are not
allowed. Defamatory
or insulting comments about a person are not allowed.
No virus/trojan
warnings unless authenticated:
No email virus or trojan
warnings without also including
a URL from an
authoritative source to prove
it is real (such as from
the website of
McAfee or Norton,
etc). There are too many fake
warnings out there.
Automatic one-week suspension
for ignoring this simple
rule.
No insulting or
defamatory comments:
Defamatory or insulting
comments about a person are not
allowed.
No sneering:
Ridicule, belittling,
debunkery and believer/skeptic
flamewars are banned. Let's just say that live-foods list is
a big

No general attacks on
RAF/RVAF diets:
As noted in our list
description, our basic guidelines
and welcoming message, this is a list for folks intimately involved
with
an RAF/RVAF diet. It is not a forum for indiscriminately
attacking
the basic premises of RAF/RVAF diets (this does not exclude your
negative
experiences or problems, which you are welcome to air). We do allow
reasonable
and civil pro and con discussions of particular aspects or components
of
RAF/RVAF diets. Let's just say that live-foods list is a big nasty nest
of "true believers" and near-true believers (having definitely a bit of
rational skepticism, but mostly driven by our wild spirits) and let the
skeptics leave in disgust.
If you need to bad-mouth
RAF/RVAF diets and tell the
world that such will kill us or cause heart disease, syphilis, kidney
disease,
e. coli infections or death from parasites, there are several
vegetarian
and raw vegan groups which will welcome you with open arms.
Don’t
do it here. We have heard it a million times already!
Suspensions for
breaking most rules:
Two weeks first
Two months second
Permanent afterward
We may also sell your soul
to the devil!
Severe or repeated infractions
will be met with immediate
and permanent suspension and banning.
Please keep the rules
in mind, and you'll be fine.
